Jennifer (right) ran her way into third place in her age group!

On Saturday, February 15, 2025, Jennifer Pearce took on the Heart Throb 5K in Arvada, Colorado!

Throughout most of the race, Jennifer was running solo. Then around the 3-mile mark, another female athlete passed her…and this female athlete looked like she was likely in the same age group as Jennifer. Deciding that she wasn’t going to let this athlete pass her with only 0.1 miles in the race to go, Jennifer kicked into high gear and really got her heart throbbing as she passed the other athlete. The other athlete tried to match Jennifer’s speed, but couldn’t and fell behind.

While Jennifer didn’t achieve a negative split in this race, she did achieve an even split, as her average pace was exactly the same in the first half and the second half. However, in the spirit of negative splitting, Jennifer made sure she managed her effort throughout the race appropriately enough so that she had the ability to push herself in the final part of the race. This was a very, very well executed race!

Ultimately, Jennifer finished third place in her age group! Congratulations, Jennifer!
