On Saturday, February 8, 2025, good friends Kathy Cano and Susan Doberneck ran the Love Can Be Cold race in Carson City, Nevada!
Love Can Be Cold is part of a Winter Trail Series that has been beloved by local runners in the Carson City area for many years, including Kathy and Susan. There are numerous different distances available to runners, and the race director shows his sense of humor by adding an “-ish” to all distances. Unfortunately, due to issues securing the proper permitting for the race series, this year’s Love Can Be Cold was the last-ever race in this series.
Since they’ve enjoyed the series so much, Kathy and Susan wanted to be sure to participate in this final race. They’ve been getting in some solid trail runs in training to prepare for it. All distances offered at Love Can Be Cold have a gnarly amount of elevation; the 5K-ish distance that Kathy and Susan both ran required them to climb over 725 feet!
They had a beautiful, sunny day for the race, and the trails didn’t have an overabundance of snow on them. Both Kathy and Susan had a great time!
Way to go, Kathy, and Susan!
