On Saturday, November 2, 2024, Kathy Cano raced the Cold Turkey Run in Carson City, Nevada!
The Cold Turkey Run is the first of three races in the Be Bold, Run in the Cold - Winter Trail Series. It is a trail race and Kathy opted to take on the challenge of the 5K-ish course. Yes, you read that correctly. “5K-ish” is the official distance of this race; the race organizers determine the course on the day based on conditions and are not overly concerned about hitting an exact pre-prescribed distance.
The weather was very lovely for this year’s Cold Turkey Run; while it rained early in the morning, the sun came out for the race itself. Kathy ended up running with a group of friends that she hasn’t seen in quite some time, which really enhanced her overall experience at the race. The final total distance they covered ended up being 3.75 miles and they climbed over 600 feet of elevation (yep, more than 150 feet of climbing per mile!).
All in all, Kathy had a great time at her second race in as many weeks. Well done, Kathy!
