On Sunday, July 7, 2024, Christina Barker took on the 7.4-mile challenge of the Team Red, White & Blue Firecracker Run in Syracuse, New York!
Team Red, White & Blue (more commonly known as Team RWB) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of America’s veterans. Started by Syracuse native Mike Erwin in 2010, Team RWB has grown from a grassroots startup of a handful of people to a worldwide community of more than 200,000 members (more commonly known as “Eagles”).
The 7.4-mile Firecracker Challenge is July’s monthly mission for all of Team RWB, and Eagles all over the world are running, rucking, or walking 7.4 miles in the month of July to celebrate the birthday of the United States of America.
In Syracuse, this event was hosted at Onondaga Lake Park and Christina used the event as a C-Race; she completed the 7.4 miles as part of her planned long run for the day. Conditions were warm and humid with a high dew point, which made this challenge an even bigger challenge for Christina. She had a good training run and really loved the lemonade that was provided by the race to all of the athletes; she described her post-race lemonade as “heaven”!
Well done, Christina!
