Susan Doberneck has been having a lot of fun running trail races this winter/spring, and on Saturday, April 20, 2024, she ran the Carson Canyon’s Super-K Trail Run in Carson City, Nevada!
Susan decided to venture a bit outside of her comfort zone and she ran the 12K distance, which featured over 1,600 feet of elevation gain. Yep, you read that right: 1,600+ feet of elevation gain in approximately 7.5 miles. That is A LOT!
The weather was great for this race, and despite the challenge that the terrain and elevation provided, Susan ran a strong and great race!
Well done, Susan!
On Sunday, April 21, 2024, David Tuminaro ran his first half marathon at the Delaware Half Marathon in Wilmington, Delaware!
David started training for endurance events for the first time last year. He started on a Custom-Built Training Plan when he hired me and switched to Performance Coaching when he realized that he needed more communication and feedback to help him learn all of the things that help make an endurance athlete successfully reach their goals. Fueling and hydration, workout sequencing, and appropriate training volumes are the main things that we’ve been dialing in to help him be strong, injury-free, and successful.
The Delaware Half Marathon was really significant for David since it was his first half marathon, but it actually was a B-Race in preparation for his A-Race in a few months. This allowed David to test out a racing strategy (his included run/walk intervals) and his fueling and hydration strategy.
I’m so pleased to report that David had a fantastic day. He felt strong and great throughout all 13.1 miles and even had enough energy to have his final mile into the finish be his fastest in the entire race! This was a great stepping stone to check in and see how his training is really going and to springboard into his upcoming training for his A-Race.
Congratulations, David!
