Three athletes raced on opposite coasts of the United States this weekend!
Susan Doberneck rode the metric century course (100 kilometers, or 62 miles) of Foxy’s Fall Century in Davis, California on Saturday, October 21, 2023!
Susan has enthusiastically embracing Maintenance Phase since her last triathlon of the season. We’ve been planning for some flexibility and free choice in her workouts, and Susan has been choosing to ride her bike and to enjoy the autumn season. She decided to do Foxy’s Fall Century as a fun ride with friends as part of that flexibility and free choice. She literally had no goals other than to enjoy the day, making it a thoughtful incorporation into Maintenance Phase.
She reports that the weather was wonderful and the food was delicious. What a wonderful way to celebrate this laid-back time of year!
Way to go, Susan!
Lisa Crockford decided to sign up last-minute for some seasonal fun at the Spooktacular Stroll 5K in Liverpool, New York on Saturday, October 21, 2023. She had a strong run where she incorporated run/walk intervals. Most importantly: She had fun!
Nice job, Lisa!
Jean Carnese capped off her third weekend of activities (two weeks ago she raced the Lake Placid Classic, and last weekend she walked the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in honor of one of her best friends) by racing at the Eastwood 5-Mile Run in Syracuse, New York on Sunday, October 22, 2023!
For the third weekend in a row, Jean embraced soggy (that’s a nice word for it) conditions. (Remember folks: You may not get the conditions you want on race day.) She ran steady for all five miles, and finished second in her age group! She ran with her husband Joe and got to catch up with some friends along the course. Overall, it’s safe to say that she had fun! (See a theme here, folks?!)
Well done, Jean!
