All sorts of races were happening this weekend, and Full Circle Endurance athletes were there to partake in the fun!
Natalie Metz ran in the Peak to Brew Relay (Finger Lakes Edition) on Saturday, May 21, 2022 in Central New York!
Natalie was part of a team of fellow triathletes; their team name was “Rather Be Tri-ing”. Conditions for this relay were quite hot and humid for this time of year in Central New York. However, Natalie persevered, and their team made it to the finish line in Pompey, New York!
Well done, Natalie!
On Sunday, May 22, 2022, Rebecca Dottolo and Dawn O’Shaughnessy took on IRONMAN 70.3 Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tennessee!
This race is a favorite on the North American IRONMAN 70.3 circuit. The town is friendly, the course is beautiful, and Chattanooga is a great city to visit!
Rebecca and Dawn had great swims and benefited from the downriver course and the assist given by the Tennessee River. They executed solid bikes, and then managed the rising temperatures of the day on the run.
Early season long course races are tricky. THis is especially true if the race takes place in a warmer climate and if the athletes reside in colder climates. (Both Rebecca and Dawn call Central New York home.) Success at early season races like this one requires getting outside on the bike in conditions that may not be very comfortable (hello 35º-40ºF temperatures!) and usually don’t provide a lot of opportunities for open water swim practice before race day. As such, specificity in preparation is really, really important. Both Rebecca and Dawn embraced the discomfort of training for such a race in the early season and benefited from this tremendously. They controlled what they could during the race, adapted their race plan based on the conditions that the day handed them, and crossed the finish line with strength.
Congratulations, Rebecca and Dawn!
On Sunday, May 22, 2022, Jacquie Craggett raced her first outdoor triathlon of the year at the Fort Worth Triathlon (Olympic Distance) in Fort Worth, Texas!
Conditions were WINDY for this race, but Jacquie managed this adversity well by truly paying attention to her Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE). She reported that she was extremely proud of her performance at this race and how she handled the day! Jacquie finished first in her age group, which punches her qualification ticket for the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships!
As an added bonus, Jacquie and her husband, Mark, had the distinction of being the oldest female and oldest male in the race! What a team! :D
Great job, Jacquie!
