In an effort to spice up her long run training, Lisa Crockford ran the Mohawk Hudson River Half Marathon as part of a 17-mile long run on Sunday, October 9, 2022!
Lisa can participate in a lot of races because she is very able to treat races as C-Races when necessary. This means that she is willing to treat a race as a training run or workout, and not race it just because it carries the label of “race”.
This is not something everyone can do (and if you’re one of the folks who cannot, that is okay!). It is really important to acknowledge which bucket you fall into, though. If you can’t show up at a race and not race it, that means that you need to be careful with not only the timing of your races, but the number of them in a given year.
In any event, since Lisa is willing and able to act like it’s a regular training day when it’s prudent to do so, she hopped into this race as part of her 17-mile long run this past weekend. She executed the workout spot-on and had a GREAT training run. She reported that she felt in control and strong through the race AND all 17 miles!
Way to go, Lisa!
It was a big day for Leslie Smith on Sunday, October 9, 2022; it was the Army Ten-Miler in Washington, D.C.!
This race is really significant to Leslie for a lot of reasons; she has raced it several times and the experience of this particular race matters a lot to her. In addition, Leslie works for Lockheed Martin and coordinates their corporate team for the race and fundraises a lot of money for her team. She even won an award for her efforts the night before the race!
Leslie ran a really great, consistent race! She had a plan that she stuck to throughout all 10 miles that kept her running strong through to the finish!
Congratulations on SUCH a great weekend and race on SO many levels, Leslie!
